Last Friday evening I was at the Parent Volunteer Appreciation Evening that was arranged by the Parents & Friends Committee to acknowledge the contributions  made by so many towards the P & F work this year. It was terrific to see so many in attendance and I have no doubt there were a number that were unable to attend, it is a wonderful reminder of the work so many parents offer to the school in the service of the students. I congratulate everyone on their valued contribution throughout 2013.

This week marks the start of the season of Advent on the church’s liturgical calendar. Last Sunday’s Feast of Christ the King was the end of the last year and a new liturgical year has begun. Throughout this season of Advent the parish of St. Andrew’s will be focusing on ‘Our Community’. In preparation for the Feast of Christmas I encourage all families to consider their preparation and ask, how will Christ be at the center of your preparations and celebrations this year? How can we show others that ours is a community centered on Christ?

This Saturday is the 30 November, the Feast of St. Andrew. On Friday the whole school will be celebrating with Mass and on Monday the students will be allowed to wear casual clothes to make it a special occasion.

A time of giving within our Parish & School Community

The SRC has organised a casual dress day on Monday 2 December. We hope to raise money to buy gifts for children to be placed in the Christmas Hampers that our school is donating to needy families in our parish.

After 16 and 26 years respectively Mrs Frances Gillett and Mrs Loretta Wallace are leaving the Manor Kindergarten. Past students, families and friends are invited to a celebratory afternoon tea in their honour on Friday 6 December between 3.00 - 5.00pm (drop in anytime) at the kindergarten  186 Werribee Street North, Werribee.

Parents are reminded that the second of three Prep 2014 Orientation Sessions will be held on Wednesday 27 November   11.30am - 12.30pm in the St. Andrew’s School Sports Centre.

The St Andrew’s Parish has decided to continue to collect in aid of the victims affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines until Friday 6 December. So if you still have donations of clothing, shoes, blankets, toiletry items and non perishable food please send them in to school and we will send them to the Parish Office.

Presenting ‘HAPPY DAYS – THE NEW MUSICAL’ which is based on the well loved classic television hit. The musical revisits the classic 1950’s styled tunes.
