Dear Parents, Carers & Guardians,
Welcome back to school for term 3. I hope the holidays were a positive time for families and that the children have had the chance for some leisure time so they are ready for another term of learning.
We begin the term with a number of staff role changes due to Tracie leaving to take up her new position as Principal of Christ the King, Braybrook and Amy Casley’s parental leave.
- Glenn Mugavin & Lisa Black will be co Deputy Principal’s for the remainder of the year. Lisa’s office is Tracie’s old office and Glenn will be in Meeting Room 1, off the foyer.
- Nicole Sciberras will be released from classroom teaching duties on Thursday & Friday as F-2 Learning Leader. Disha Garima will be teaching the class on Thursday & Friday. Disha has been in the class as a CRT in the past so is familiar to the students. Nicole will be providing support to Disha as she transitions into this new position.
- Janelle & Bianca will be providing support in the Learning Diversity team. They will be managing a number of the programs for students with additional learning needs.
We were hoping to have completed the plumbing repairs to the fire service outside rooms 20 & 21, during the holidays but the task was more complicated than was initially diagnosed and there is still some concreting to be completed. Please be aware that this may be occuring tomorrow (Monday) morning. Parents of students in Foundation & Grade One please enter via Gate 4 (the soccer pitch on Mortimer St) but be prepared that there may be concrete trucks and you may need to use a alternate gate. A staff member will be available to direct you.
The library is almost ready to open for students again. The library has been relocated to Room 7 and Mrs Briffa has been preparing things. She is very excited to open up for students early this term.
We will update our COVID Safe Plan early this week and will share any changes as soon as they are known.
The school will be undertaking a School Improvement Review during this term. The reviewer, Wendy Ross, will be visiting the school during week 2 of this term. A reminder that the school will be closed on Thursday September 2 & Friday September 3 for staff professional development as we build a new School Improvement Plan based on the recommendations of the review.
Finally, families are expected to make a time to meet with their child’s teacher this week. We are trialing a new approach by offering online meetings on Tuesday afternoon and face to face meetings on Thursday afternoon. If you have done so, you are asked to use the code that was shared at the end of last term on the schoolinterviews website, www.schoolinterviews.com.au
I look forward to working positively with our school community throughout Term 3.
