COVID Update 11/10/2021

Dear Parent & Guardians,

I hope you are taking care of yourselves and your families as best you can during these trying times. I would just like to update you on a couple of matters relating to current restrictions and our preparations to welcome the first of our students, Grades F-2, back onsite from next week.

FACEMASKS
Face masks are now required for students in Year 3 to Year 6, only when indoors on school premises, unless an exception applies.

Exceptions for all year levels include:

  • Students with a disability are not required to wear a face mask where their disability means it would not be suitable.

VACCINATIONS
Children 12 and over can get a COVID-19 vaccine

  • Anyone aged 12 years and over is eligible to receive the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines at participating venues

MANDATORY VACCINATIONS
Critical Dates
Education Workers

  • By 18 October 2021 all school staff are to have had a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or produce evidence of a booking to receive a vaccine by 25 October 2021, unless a medical exemption applies.
  • By 29 November 2021 all school staff are to be fully vaccinated with two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, and to show evidence of their vaccination status, unless a medical exemption applies.

Authorised Workers

  • By 15 October 2021 all authorised workers are to have had a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or produce evidence of a booking to receive a vaccine by 22 October 2021, unless a medical exemption
    applies.
  • By 26 November 2021 all authorised workers are to be fully vaccinated with two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, and to show evidence of their vaccination status, unless a medical exemption applies.

More information regarding other related matters will be provided when available.

CARE & SUPERVISION PROGRAM
With Foundation (Mon – Wed) and Grade 1 & 2 (Thurs – Fri) returning to school from next week we will be locating the Care & Supervision program back to the Sport Centre from this Thursday. Entry and exit will be via Gate 5 on Stawell St (opposite the foyer).

Children will still be admitted to the program according to the current guidelines; children of families who are authorised (permitted) workers and those children deemed vulnerable by the school. Siblings will not be admitted to the program on the days a younger sibling is attending school unless they meet the criteria.

RETURN TO SCHOOL
Details about the arrangements for students returning to school will be shared later this week.

SAD NEWS
Fr Albert’s sister, Regina, passed away on Saturday in Sri Lanka. She has reportedly been sick for a number of months. Please keep Fr Albert and his family in your thoughts & prayers.

STAFF NEWS
Angela Morabito, our Italian Language program assistant, has received news that she and her family have been approved to travel home to Italy. During this time, like for many, the pull of home and family cannot be ignored and so Angela will leave us on October 30. Angela has been such a popular staff member and has been instrumental in the introduction of the Teachers as Co-Learners approach to the teaching of Italian. She will be missed by the community. We thank her and wish her well in the future.

Take care

Michael Gavaghan
Principal
