Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Welcome back to Term 3 and although we hoped we would never have to repeat the Remote Learning experience, it’s back!
To increase physical distancing across the population and to slow the spread of coronavirus, students in Melbourne Primary Schools must move to remote learning. All students will be learning from home except for students in the following categories:
- Children on days when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made because parents cannot work from home.
- Student with a disability or identified by the school as vulnerable
Accompanying are the St Andrew’s arrangements for commencing Term 3:
Access to the school site will be restricted to staff, students and personnel supporting essential school services and operations. Parents and other visitors may only attend onsite by appointment.
All gates will remain locked and entry will only be provided by ringing 9741 3686
Any activity that can be performed remotely should be performed remotely, eg paying school fees, meetings with teachers, etc
For students who do not have access to digital technologies, the school will loan a chromebook.
Google Classroom works best on a personal computer, laptop or chromebook. iPads have been found to be problematic.
A Loan agreement is to be signed on collection of your Chromebook.
Chromebooks will initally be loaned in the following manner, 1 Chromebook per 1 or 2 children, 2 chromebooks per 3 or more children. Depending on availablity further chromebooks may be made available.
Chromebook collection will occur on Thursday 16 July between 8.30am & 5.30pm.
After this date please contact the office to request a chromebook on 9741 3686
Non technological resources will also be distributed on Thursday 16 July. It is hoped that students still have the resources from Term 2 available as well.
ON SITE SUPERVISION
As has been mentioned, St Andrew’s will be providing onsite supervision for students of who cannot be supervised at home as parents cannot work from home or for students with disabilities who the school identifies as being vulnerable. Parents must register their child for onsite learning via the Onsite School Intentions eForm on the Skoolbag App. Parents who cannot work from home are required to provide evidence of their need to attend the workplace, either by a letter from the employer, an official roster, or for self employeed parents, via a business card.
Remote Learning will be provided in the Sports Centre as it is deemed the most appropriate location to provide social distancing and ventilation. Entry is via the Stawell St gate closest to the foyer.
Drop off between 8.30am – 8.45am. Pick up time 3.15pm.
Students will be temperature checked on entry. If a student has a temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or above, they will be sent home. If a student becomes unwell during the day, parents or carers will be contacted to arrange for students to return home. Families will then be encouraged to seek testing for coronavirus or the advice of their healthcare professional who can recommend next steps.
Hand sanitiser will be provided but students can bring their own if preferred.
Parents/Guardians will be required to sign their child in and out on each occasion.
Students must attend in school uniform, have their own lunch and snacks and supply their own water bottle.
Drinking fountains are not being used at this time.
The learning program delivered on site will be the same as the learing program delivered to students undertaking remote learning. Students will be supervised by school staff, it may not be your child’s teacher.
Staff attendance onsite will be reduced as they will be encouraged to work from home if they can.
Please don’t assume your child’s teacher is onsite and able to answer phone calls.
Communication with your child’s teacher should be via the REMIND App or via email.
Please respect they will be working regular working hours and will not be available to answer messages outside of 8.30am – 4.30pm approx.
Teachers will be following the remote learing policy and the majority of the learning will be delivered via our digital platform, Google Classrooms. They will not be providing alternative resources unless it is deemed a necessary adjustment to their regular learning program through the school’s existing channels.
All communication must remain respectful and courteous , whether in person or remotely.
Please remember that everyone is trying to do their best under these most trying of circumstances.
