Term 1 Week 1 – 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The first school week of the year is now behind us, it’s been a good start and teachers are reporting how settled the students have been and how enthusiastically they are approaching being back at school. Our new Foundation students are like they have been here forever.

Thank you for taking on the Rapid Antigen Testing program. As you know, in this first week we had three cases, although one was eventually confirmed as a false positive via a PCR test. Please keep up the testing, our suggestion is to test on Monday then again on Wednesday/Thursday. A second kit will be distributed via students next Friday.

Today, teachers have distributed small learning packs to every student. In the event your child tests positive or they become a household close contact and has to isolate for 7 days then these are learning activities they can continue with. These activities are not reliant on technology and should be able to be completed by each student. The school will not be providing a remote learning program or distributing chromebooks as we did in 2021. Students with access to devices are also welcome to access the Student Lounge. Please don’t use them as additional homework, they are to be used by isolating students.

The school is currently negotiating for the provision of a temporary vaccination clinic onsite to make it easier for parents to access vaccinations for your children. The gauge the level of interest and to ensure an appropriate level of stock please complete an expression of interest via this link. Expression of Interest . The government’s strategy to keep our schools as safe as possible and maintain continuity of learning through 2022 is to get as many 5 to 11 year olds vaccinated as quickly as we can. This will be one of the most important steps we can take.

  • Aiden
  • Jennifer
  • Alexa
  • Charlotte

These four exceptional students were successful from a field of 16 applicants. I was so impressed by the quality of every student who applied and I believe that any would have made an appropriate school captain. I look forward to working with our new school captains and I am extremely glad that there are a further 12 students with leadership qualities ready to act in other leadership capacities.

Take Care

Michael Gavaghan
