I hope all our mums, and everyone else who plays that nurturing role for our students, had a Happy Mother’s Day and were a little bit spoilt. Thank you to the staff for getting to school early and in less than pleasant weather, cooking and serving up breakfast. I also thank the parents, especially Angela Kaklikos, for organising the Mother’s Day Stalls.
There will be a Term 2 meeting for parents willing to assist with the 2019 Social & Fundraising events next Monday 20 May in the staffroom at 7.00pm. So far, there have been the following successful events: Easter Raffle, Subway Lunch and Mother’s Day Stall. The next Subway Fun Day is on Friday 24 May and do not forget to get your table together for the Trivia Night, to be held in the School Sports Centre on June 14.
The new Harpley Estate Catholic Primary School, planning to open for the beginning of the 2021 school year, is looking for a name. There are voting forms available in the school office and voting closes this Friday 17 May.

2020 Foundation Enrolments are currently being taken. If your child turns five years of age before 30 April 2020 then they are eligible to begin school next year. All applications must be accompanied by the following: Birth Certificate Immunisation Status Certificate and, if Catholic, a Baptism certificate.
NAPLAN This week the Year 3 & 5 students will be participating in NAPLAN testing. We wish them well and hope they are able to perform at their best. The NAPLAN tests is an important standardised assessment but it is only part of the overall picture of a child’s education and I hope that everyone is able to keep it in perspective.
School Nurse Visit Tuesday 21 May & Wednesday The school nurse will visit the Foundation children. A questionnaire was sent home to parents. If you have not returned your completed form to your child’s teacher, please do so as soon as possible.
Breakfast Club News Breakfast club runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8.00am – 8.30am. Commencing Tuesday 30 April children attending Breakfast Club are to be dropped off and enter via the STAWELL STREET gate and go directly to the Sports Centre Foyer.
Children not attending breakfast club should not be on school grounds prior to 8.30am.
Woolworths Earn & Learn
Once again St Andrew’s School is participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Between 1 May and 25 June 2019 collect as many stickers as you can. Stick them on the your sticker sheets and drop them into the Earn & Learn box located in the Office. If you need more sticker sheets you can collect them from the office.
2020 Enrolments
For parents who have submitted an enrolment for 2020 we are currently organising a timetable for you to meet with the Principal Michael Gavaghan. You will receive a letter in the mail offering dates and times available. Please contact the office to arrange your appointment.
Engaging Wyndham Families with St Andrew’s School
The Engaging Wyndham Families program is an early intervention service that aims to support local families who may have a child with some challenging behaviours, a child who may not want to be going to school or families who don’t know where to get information and help.
We are here if you need us. We will be at St Andrew’s School for consults on Wednesdays 9.00am – 11.00am.
