Dear Parents, Carers & Guardians

At this weekend’s masses Fr Albert shared the name of the new Harpley Estate Primary School with the  community. I am pleased to inform you that St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School will open in 2021.   St. Joseph’s  honours the Sisters of St. Joseph who have been pioneers in the Parish, St. Andrew's School & MacKillop College. Construction is expected to commence later this year.

The St Andrew’s building program continues to make progress with the slab being laid last week. It has been unfortunate that the rain of the past few weeks has delayed this task but we are now looking forward to the  construction moving quite quickly. It is anticipated that the building of stage 1A will be finished by mid August and the construction of stage 1B, the Junior learning centre will commence soon after. The expected completion date is looking to be December at this stage.

With the building program, we are needing to move Gus and his friends from their current position to an area behind the MacKillop room. Hugh, our maintenance man is looking for a parent who may be able to assist with welding together the new cage in its new home. If you can assist please leave your name and contact at the school office.

This Friday night the Parent Association will be holding the 2019 Trivia Night. If you haven’t booked your table it’s not too late. Please contact the school office if you would like to attend.

The Parent Association (Parents & Friends) are meeting next Monday evening at 7.00pm in the staffroom. Please contact the school office or email enquiries@sawerribee.catholic.edu.au with your attendance or apology. A draft ‘Terms of Reference’ document has been distributed via Skoolbag App, and we ask that any suggestions or comments are made this week in time for next week’s meeting.

Reports are currently being prepared by teachers and will be sent home with the students on Friday 21 June.   3 Way Conversations are being held on Tuesday 25 June & Thursday 27 June. Instructions for booking a time online are being distributed with this newsletter.

St Andrew’s Fair needs a committee member to represent the St Andrew’s Primary School community. If you are able to offer your time and talents to this important task please let the school office know. The Fair is going through a transition this year and many of the past committee have decided to pass the baton to a new  committee however there is a desperate need for more representation. Each school has been approached to provide a representative. Please consider this request seriously as the parish needs its community to get  active.

As we approach the end of term please remember that school finishes on Friday 28 June @ 1.00pm.

2020 Foundation Enrolments are currently being taken. If your child turns five years of age before 30 April 2020 then they are eligible to begin school next year. All applications must be accompanied by the following: Birth Certificate  Immunisation Status Certificate and, if Catholic, a Baptism certificate.

MUSIC NEWS

On Sunday 26 May the Year Four students received the Sacrament of First Eucharist.   I would like to acknowledge and thank the beautiful children in our school who gave of their time to help form a liturgical choir and provide live music for the Year Fours and their families at this Mass. These students gave up lunchtimes to learn songs and parts of the mass that contributed to a wonderful ceremony. Their participation is a reflection of the generous nature and talent of the children at our school. A huge thank you should also go to the parents/carers of these children who helped ensure the children were present at the Mass. You are all gems.

Engaging Wyndham Families with St Andrew’s School

The Engaging Wyndham Families program is an early intervention service that aims to support local families who may have a child with some challenging behaviours, a child who may not want to be going to school or families who don’t know where to get information and help.

We are here if you need us. We will be at St Andrew’s School for consults on Wednesdays  9.00am – 11.00am.

St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal 2019  St Vincent de Paul Society would like to ask for your help to make a difference, we are so grateful for your support.  Our two major appeals are Winter Appeal and Christmas.  All donations are collected from Catholic Schools within our Parish and distributed amongst our needy in our community who are experiencing

disadvantage and poverty.  Donating non-perishable items such as tinned goods, pantry staples, toiletries, gloves, scarves, beanies, blankets would be greatly appreciated.

MacKillop College Information Meeting for Year 7 2021

There will be an information Evening at MacKillop College for students who will be in Year 7 in 2021. The Evening is on Tuesday June 18 in the Moreno Centre.
