The final week of Term 3 is upon us and there is much to report as we approach the holidays.
Building Works
1. Most by now would be aware that the office has moved to its new location opposite the church on Greaves Street North. The entry to the office is via the gate beside the builder’s compound. Please remember that you need to report to the office and register as a visitor before entering the school itself outside of drop off and pick up times.
2. This morning the builders erected the temporary fencing around the new building site. Entering and exiting the school via Mortimer Street will be through the double gates on the soccer pitch only.
3. As the current student toilets are being refurbished, all students will be using the Sports Centre toilets for the remainder of the year.
As has already been communicated, this next stage of the building works is expected to take the remainder of the school year and, should everything go to plan, will be ready to hand over for the beginning of the 2020 school year. This will include 6 new classrooms, designed to provide contemporary learning spaces for our Foundation - Year 2 students.
Parent Association
After nearly 2 years, a new structure was launched at the Parent Association Meeting on Monday 9 September. The following parents will hold positions for the remainder of 2019 and 2020 school year:
· Main Working Group Leader - Catherine Wiseman
· Communication Officer - Belinda Bennett
· Finance Officer - Claire Pridham
· Social/Fundraising Group Leader - Shane Sfetkidis
· Parent Voice Group Leader - Nikki Doolan
There are other parents who have made a considerable contribution to get us to this point and I’d like to also acknowledge Maria Sultana, Misty Palmer, Kate Lind & Angela Kaklikos. I hope no one has been left off and I look forward to working with this new association for the benefit of the school, especially the students.
Final Week - School finishes at 1.00pm on Friday 20 September
1. Mini Vinnies Lunchtime Disco - Wednesday 18 September
Students are invited to wear 80s themed clothes to the disco and it’s a $2.00 entry fee. The money raised will be used by the St Vincent De Paul Society to provide for the needs of the local community.
This is not a free dress day
2. Coon Toastie Fun Lunch - Thursday 19 September
Organised by the Parents Association, Maria Sultana has a small group of parent volunteers ready to toast and distribute cheese toasties.
3. Out of Uniform Day - Friday 20 September
Students are welcome to come in free dress and make a donation of a Gold Coin, the funds raised will go towards cancer research.
I congratulate the Year 3 students who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time last Thursday evening.
Please remember school finishes at 1.00 on Friday 20 September.
Students begin Term 4 on Monday 7 October.
