As we begin week four of the Term I would like to thank everyone, staff, students and parents for the relatively smooth start to the year. There is certainly a calm feel around the school and most students have quickly settled into their routines.

The Three Way Conversations have been held, providing an opportunity to invest in the parent/school partnership from the very beginning. At St Andrew’s we believe that all learning is relational and for parents to share their knowledge of their child with their teacher is crucial in assisting the teacher to connect with your child. Of course there will be times that the relationship will be tested due to many diverse reasons but we hope that this early investment will give a positive base to work with.

 

Thank you to everyone who have signed and returned the Family/School Relationship Code of Conduct, it is this document that lays down the foundation of how we relate to each other at St Andrew’s. If you haven’t returned yours yet, please do so as soon as possible.

 

I wish to advise of a student free day on FRIDAY 21st FEBRUARY - NO STUDENTS

Friday is a School Closure Day to enable the staff to continue to develop the Positive Behaviour for Learning approach being implemented at St Andrew’s. Staff will be off site during the morning so there will be no access to the school. There was not sufficient support to open the Camp Australia program for the day. I am sorry to those who were hoping that it would be available. We will continue to explore this for future days so if you think you would use it please let us know via the office.

 

On THURSDAY 27 FEBRUARY we will be holding the Beginning of the Year Picnic from 5.30pm - 7.30pm. Families can bring their own dinner or purchase a sausage sizzle from the BBQ. The Parent’s Association has engaged an organisation called Kahootz to run the activities for the night. More specific information will soon follow.

 

There have been a few people enquiring about the 2020 Fees statements. They have now been generated and will be sent home with the children this week. The delay has been due to the 2019 financials being reconciled once we returned to school in late January. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 

There will be an Opening of the Year School Mass on Wednesday at 10.00am. Our Foundation students are not at school on Wednesday but will slowly be included in our whole school celebrations throughout the term. Parents are invited to attend the Mass at St Andrew’s Church.

 

Accompanying this newsletter is the First Term Curriculum Overview. This overview has been designed as a family engagement tool to provide parents an insight into the planned curriculum for the term. We hope you value the effort the teachers take in preparing this document and that it helps you to understand your child’s learning goals.

 

2021 Foundation Information Sessions

St Andrew’s School is holding two information sessions here in the Sports Centre at St Andrew’s School.

If you know any families with a child who may be beginning school next year please let them know of this session.

Þ Tuesday 25 February @ 6.30pm

Þ Thursday 27 February @ 9.00am

 

Wednesday 26 February Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. The Year 3 - 6 students will attend the Parish Mass at 9.00am in St Andrew’s Church. The F-2 students will have their own smaller liturgy.

 

SCHOOL HOURS

School commences at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm

School gates are not opened in the morning until 8.30am

Students should not to be in the school yard before 8.30am as there is no teacher on yard duty until 8.30am

 

2020 School Fees

Family Fee                               $1600 per family per year

Individual Student Levy          $  385 per student per year

This charge covers the curriculum including excursions & sporting activities

Maintenance Levy                              $50 per family

 

School Fees Statements will be sent home this week. We offer Eftpos, Direct Debit and Cash payments.

CSEF: Families who have a current Healthcare Card are eligible for the CSEF (Camp, Sports & Excursion Fund) of $125 per eligible child.

Centre Pay is a free direct bill paying service available to families on Centrelink payments.

Direct Debit, CSEF and Centrepay forms are all available from the school office.

 

School Hats are compulsory in Term 1 & Term 4 and are available from the school office and Rushfords

Legionnaires Hats  $10.00   Slouch Hats  $11.00

Hats are to be worn during outside play and activity. ‘No hat, no play’ children can sit in a designated shade area.

Engaging Wyndham Families with St Andrew’s School

Supports local families who may have a child with some challenging behaviours, a child who may not want to be going to school or families who don’t know where to get information and help for their family with children aged 5 – 13.

We will be at St Andrew’s School for consults on Wednesdays  9.00am – 11.00am.

Parking around St Andrew’s School Respect the road rules and parking signs

Parents please observe ALL ‘No Standing’  ‘One Way’ and ‘Bus Zone’ signs in Stawell Street.

The Stawell Street Bus Zone is for BUSES ONLY. Parents can use the 5 minute drop off zone which is located outside the Stawell Street gate right next to the bus zone. If you continue to park in the Bus Zone you do so at your own risk and may incur a fine.

 

For the safety of all - use the designated areas for parking and dropping off your children.

There is a 5min drop off zone in Stawell Street.

Police and Council patrols happen randomly and parents can and will be caught and fined.
